Now you have met Lucy, Erin, Isla and Adele. And here we go my fifth wedding dress is called: Lulu.
This dress is pulled together in a week and that´s only because I made a mistake with the original dress (Erin) and that dress ended up for another model. But to be honest I think this dress looks great on this model. She has that right look for this dress. So maybe it was not that bad mistake at all. Or what you think?
I used six meters of wedding tulle and some chiffon to this dress. I found fabrics again from the fabric store Eurokangas. ( I didn´t meet Lady Gaga 🙂
We did one fitting in a phone with my model and one fitting before the shoots. I also did some sewing by hand on a photo shoot day. Phew.. The biggest thanks goes to my model. Thank you my dear model Laura for doing this to me. So after all we did it! Five unique wedding dresses!
I think this wedding dress would be great after the “official” wedding part… when the real party starts. And if you fall while dancing you´ll have a soft landing.

I say that´s a wrap!
Thank you Dorit for taking these amazing pictures with super speed. Thank you Rebecca, Emilia, Iina, Anna and Laura for being such a great and pretty models. Waiting to celebrate with you! Thank you Mikko for your help at the photo shoot. I own you a beer or a two..
The story of my fourth dress is colorful and this is how it goes.
Last year I did a dress called Odessa A. I still had that same fabric left from Odessa A and I thought it might look nice as a wedding dress. I had this idea of a one sleeve dress but it got too short and it didn´t fit well. So I cut the dress and..
started all over again. This time I added some lace to this dress and changed many things. But then again the dress wasn´t the way that I wanted it to be and so Linda mistake shirt was born. Now my fabric was gone but luckily I found some nice creamy colored polyester fabric from fabric store Eurokangas the lace was found from there too.
I guess this Adele wedding dress is one of my favorites from all the dresses I have ever made.

Now you have met two out of five of my wedding dresses Lucy lace and Erin which I have designed and made.
This third wedding dress ISLA got a start from two separate pieces of white satin. I found pieces from one of those fabric boxes from Eurokangas. I guess there was less than two meters of material but it was enough for this dress. Because I wanted to do a one shoulder wedding dress.
First I made some curves and foldings for the upper part of the dress. I didn´t´use any patterns or a model I just used my imagination. I met my model when the dress was almost sewn together and we could do fittings. The dress was a bit too big for my model and so I ended up changing my model in the last minute. So this Isla dress was supposed to be for Emilia (and now I just mean for these photo shoots) who worked as model in my second wedding dress Erin 🙂
I got a model for this Isla dress just five days before our photo shoots. Thank you so much Iina for doing it for me.

You´ll find the story and some pictures from my first wedding dress from here. But now It´s time to continue with the story and present to you my second wedding dress and the wife number two.
I started doing this second wedding dress for a model called Laura. I did all the fittings with Laura but after sewing the zipper dress got too small for Laura. My amateur seamstress mistake 🙂 Luckily I had this young girl Emilia who was able to fit in to that tiny dress. And thank God It fitted perfectly for Emilia.
I used two meters taffeta and some chiffon to this dress and of course lots of tulle. I found all the materials from the fabric store Eurokangas. I went trough many ideas how to decorate this dress. But I ended up using three brooches. They had that right kind of bling bling for this dress.

During my last years project I bought lots of fabrics which I didn´t use. So while going trough my old fabrics I found this nice flower lace. I remembered I bought it from one of those fabric boxes from fabric store Eurokangas. So I guess this fabric must have costed less than 20 euros.
I wanted to do a lace dress with long sleeves and a hood but there wasn´t enough fabric for those things. Then I found these lace pieces and I made a shoulder straps instead of sleeves. I decorated the straps with pearls.
Lace was a bit stretchy so I didn´t put a zipper on this dress but maybe I should have done it.. I guess this is the reason why dress is a bit too big for my model.
Instead of lining I used thin sand color chiffon.
But now this is how the story goes. While I was creating these wedding dresses I thought a lot people falling in love, getting married and then sometimes divorcing… At the same time I was listening to music and then one song just hit me. Solitary man performed by Johny Cash.
So this is my story about a guy and his five wife´s. Here´s his wife number one: Lucy Lace

In February I received an email from a bride who was asking me to create an unique wedding dress for their wedding after party or the day after the wedding for a brunch. I told her that I could designed it but maybe it would be better to finish the dress with professional seamstress. And so we did.. but…
Designing dresses means to me also trying things with fabrics. So while designing that after party dress I tried many things with fabric. And so I ended up trying ideas of different kinds of wedding dresses.. And made them ready.
Now I am just so excited! I have seen the pictures from my five unique wedding dresses what I have created during this year. (You can go to my old blog: I Love dresses to read more about making of these unique wedding dresses).
We had a wedding dress photo shoot session in June and now the pictures are ready. So I will share those photos with you in a day or two. I still need to go them trough and choose the best ones.
Last year, when I started designing and creating unique dresses I had this secret dream of my own about doing a long wedding dress. Now I have done it.
But here´s a one picture (as a sneak peak) from one of my new models. She is Laura, a Bride to be, and she writes a blog: Palomiehen morsian ps. this dress is not Laura´s real wedding dress 🙂
This dress is called: Lulu, Picture: Dorit Salutskij
I was so happy to meet my beautiful model this morning. We did our second fittings to see how does the dress work with “skin” fabric. Everything went pretty well except the “skin” fabric isn´t really matching with my models tanned skin… Hmm…. I´m going to add some pastes on the skin fabric so maybe it will mix things up a bit. Here´s few Making of picture from our fitting session.
There´s still plenty to do with this dress and the backside of the dress might change. But I like this dress a lot.
When I started designing and creating dresses I did many mistakes. You can go to my old blog to read the story from my first dress: Rebel Rio.
Picture: Risto Kuulasmaa, Model: Rebecca
I still make mistakes but not that many as in the beginning. This shirt was originally planned to become as a dress. But it did not work out the way I wanted. So I cut it and made it a shirt. I call this beautiful mistake.
Making mistakes isn´t always that bad?? Have a great weekend and thanks for the funny emails. firstname.lastname@example.org
I´m going to use this “skin” or sheer fabric in my dress. I think it´s time to add some pastes and maybe some bling bling on the neck area.
I really liked this dress what Catherine Zeta-Jones was wearing at the Rock of Ages premiere.
Picture from here
Yesterday I met my new model a dancer called Saija. I didn´t use any patterns I just used lots of pins to create the shapes of my model. I forgot to take pictures from our fitting session but here´s few making of pictures from back home.
I love this idea of leaving trail on this dress but the fabric is so heavy.. So let´s see..
I haven´t decided yet what to do with the backside of the dress. I would like to use this skin color fabric and maybe but some pastes on it..
Some fresh flowers from my special one… To cheer up my workroom.
