First wife: Lucy Lace

During my last years project I bought lots of fabrics which I didn´t use. So while going trough my old fabrics I found this nice flower lace. I remembered I bought it from one of those fabric boxes from fabric store Eurokangas. So I guess this fabric must have costed less than 20 euros.

I wanted to do a lace dress with long sleeves and a hood but there wasn´t enough fabric for those things. Then I found these lace pieces and I made a shoulder straps instead of sleeves. I decorated the straps with pearls.

Lace was a bit stretchy so I didn´t put a zipper on this dress but maybe I should have done it.. I guess this is the reason why dress is a bit too big for my model.

Instead of lining I used thin sand color chiffon.

But now this is how the story goes. While I was creating these wedding dresses I thought a lot people falling in love, getting married and then sometimes divorcing…  At the same time I was listening to music and then one song just hit me. Solitary man performed by Johny Cash.

Fittings

I was so happy to meet my beautiful model this morning. We did our second fittings to see how does the dress work with “skin” fabric.  Everything went pretty well except the “skin” fabric isn´t really matching with my models tanned skin… Hmm…. I´m going to add some pastes on the skin fabric so maybe it will mix things up a bit. Here´s few Making of picture from our fitting session.

There´s still plenty to do with this dress and the backside of the dress might change. But I like this dress a lot.

Lace dress

My next dress will be made out of this thick lace. I found this lace from fabric store Eurokangas.

I will meet my new “model” next week (I use regular women/men as models). This dress is going to be a wedding dress but not for this particular model.

I don´t know what you think about black wedding dresses but I just love what Vera Wang designed.

So far I have been using two amazing photogrpahers: Risto Kuulasmaa and Dorit Salutskij who also writes a blog called: Paikka auringossa. They both are great at what they do and they are easy to work with. With this black dress I´m going to use Risto Kuulasmaa as a photographer.
